A Study of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Substance Use Disorder Education

Overview

About this study

This study attempts to shift when the nurse anesthesia community introduces substance abuse education by providing such education to registered nurses prior to committing to the profession. It will provide prospective applicants a comprehensive understanding of substance abuse in the profession, explain why CRNAs are a vulnerable population, and provide an assessment of their individual risks. The study’s ultimate goal is to positively impact the rate of substance abuse among CRNAs by identifying a space where substance abuse education can create change.
