A Study to Measure How Far Medical Team Members Travel to see Patients Spread Through the Hospital and Associate this to Outcomes in Patient Care

About this study

The purpose of this study is to objectively measure how far the medical team members travel daily to see patients who have been admitted to distant areas of the hospital. This will be associated with patient outcomes data, such as length of stay, death, and readmissions within 30 days. 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Hospital Internal Medicine provider assigned to work on one of the following inpatient medical services
    • Medicine 5-9
    • Medicine 11
  • Informed consent to participate in the study

Exclusion Criteria

  • Inability to physically perform daily duties
  • Inability to wear a Fitbit™ Zip activity tracker
