Industry Partnership
The CT CIC was established in partnership with Siemens Healthcare, a leading manufacturer of medical imaging systems. The partnership between Mayo's and Siemens' CT Divisions allows Mayo investigators and Siemens' scientists to work synergistically toward our mutual goals of use emerging hardware and software developments and new imaging strategies to improve patient care.
To ensure the pursuit of meritorious, high-impact projects in the CT Clinical Innovation Center, leadership from both Mayo and Siemens match promising proposals with appropriate resources.
Since its inception in 2004, the CT CIC has been the site of the first U.S. installations of four new CT technologies from Siemens Healthcare, including their first 64-slice single-source and dual-source CT systems and their first 128-slice single-source and dual-source CT systems.
The opportunity to interact with Siemens' scientists and engineers allows Mayo researchers and clinicians to advocate for technical innovations that will ultimately result in improved patient care. This communication between medical and technical experts bridges the gap between academia and industry for the mutual goal of advancing medical science.
To avoid any real or perceived conflicts of interest, the relationship is managed by Mayo's Medical/Industry Relations Committee, Conflict of Interest Review Board, and Office of Intellectual Property. Faculty participating in Siemens' sponsored projects are prohibited from accepting any honorarium or consulting fees, and industry support is disclosed in any presentations and publications involving Siemens' sponsored research. Mayo Clinic does not endorse commercial products and our collaboration with Siemens Healthcare should not be interpreted as such. Information regarding Siemens' products can be obtained through the Siemens' website or their representatives.
