I chose to attend MSHS due to the abundance of learning opportunities and access to some of the best resources in the world. The program was very organized and centered around the individual learning. I visited the campus prior to committing to the program, on my visit I could feel the energy of all those associated with the clinic. I knew it would be a great learning atmosphere.

This is my second year of residency in the pharmacy residency programs. I chose to do the critical care residency because I knew that Mayo treats some of the most difficult cases in the country. I wanted to get the broadest coverage of disease states, and learn from top practitioners. After being here for a year before starting my Critical Care residency, I knew that the patient always comes first and all the efforts of the hospital staff are centered around that idea.

I feel I am very prepared to go into practice as a Critical care pharmacist, that is the ultimate goal of any health sciences education. Confidence comes with knowledge and to be the best practitioner you can you need to have confidence in your abilities. My education at Mayo has provided me the confidence to practice successfully.

My conclusion, after comparing several offers, is that Mayo is a special place to work and take care of patients. People are very satisfied with the job they do and it shows in the care we provide. As a result of my search, I decided to stay and take a position in one of our critical care units. It’s the best decision I have made, even though my family is 1,500 miles West.
