Panithaya Chareonthaitawee, M.D.
Dr. Chareonthaitawee grew up in Thailand, Denmark, and the United States. After obtaining her undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York and her M.D. degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, she completed her Internal Medicine residency, Cardiovascular and Nuclear Cardiology fellowships at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She then pursued advance training as a Mayo Foundation Scholar in cardiac PET imaging at Imperial College School of Medicine in London, United Kingdom. She is a consultant cardiologist in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and helps to direct clinical and research efforts in the Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory at Mayo. Clinical and research interests include cardiac imaging, myocardial metabolism and blood flow, and vascular inflammation, as well as issues related to career choice.
