How does your Mayo Graduate School education compare with previous education that you have received at other institutions?
In a relatively small campus, Mayo is enriched with cutting-edge research and core facilities, which allow for efficient data collection. Students can explore a variety of research topics while growing as young scientists. It is rare to find such rigorous scientific training, while having the flexibility to evolve your research interests at the same time.

What opportunities have you been introduced to since being at Mayo Graduate School?
I am learning basic science research skills, with an additional opportunity to investigate how this research can be utilized from bench to bedside.

Why did you choose Mayo Graduate School?
As a Mayo graduate student, I am a free agent and can choose any laboratory of my interest.

How would you describe the atmosphere of Mayo Clinic?
Diverse, collaborative and progressive.

What are your plans for the future?
I expect my research interests to mature over the next few years, which will allow me to choose an ideal place for a postdoctoral fellowship. I am looking forward to a fulfilling career in science and leadership.

If you could describe Mayo Clinic in one word, what would it be?
Resourceful.

With what activities are you involved in Rochester?
Intramural volleyball team, Rochester track club, Rochester salsa community and art classes through community education.

How does Rochester differ from your hometown? College community?
The Mediterranean climate where I grew up is a lot warmer than Minnesota; on the other hand, the cultural diversity at the Mayo Clinic campus is remarkable.
