Senior Director, Innovation and Business Development, UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Retirement
Kara Ellinger has spent more than 20 years helping companies in the health care, biotechnology, information technology and online education industries get to know their customers and develop marketing programs and products that meet their unique needs.
As senior director of innovation and business development for UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Retirement, she is focused on developing new products and services that will help senior consumers simplify day-to-day health management and embrace a healthier lifestyle. She is also part of a team that works closely with AARP's innovation team to bring new health management solutions to consumers age 50 and older.
Ellinger is also passionate about helping women entrepreneurs grow their businesses and bring new products to market. In support of this passion, she serves on the board of directors for WomenVenture, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women-owned businesses through loans, education and ongoing consultation through all stages of business.
Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Ellinger held a range of marketing strategy and product marketing positions with Capella Education Company, US WEST Communications and Gartner Learning. She holds an MBA and Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.
