I love working with people. I really enjoy motivating patients and clients on their way to recovery. The daily variety and diversity of patients lends itself to a challenging work environment, where I can use my problem-solving skills and creativity to best treat that individual.
I was most impressed with Mayo’s commitment to clinical education. Students are placed in a variety of clinical settings right away. Almost every week when the program starts we spend an afternoon in the clinic, so we are able to gain experience and apply what we learn in class.
I was also impressed with the teaching both from faculty and clinical experts. The faculty have diverse interests and really enjoy working with the students. They will challenge you and see you through to success.
The patient population is another reason I chose Mayo Clinic. People come from all over to be treated here, so I feel I have seen things in my clinical experiences that I may not have seen elsewhere.
The facilities are great, too! The anatomy lab, reference libraries, and classrooms all contribute to an environment conducive learning and having fun.
The reputation of the Mayo Clinic is far-reaching. A degree from here is well recognized, should I decide to go outside of the Midwest during my career.
The PT program has given me the knowledge and confidence to make competent and caring medical decisions with my patients.
