The Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center in Minnesota comprises 10,000 square feet of training space. The facility is available to all members of the health care team. Training is team-based whenever possible.

The simulation center includes four Simulation Suites: Operating Room Suite, Cullinan & Falcon-Cullinan Emergency Room Suite, Intensive Care Unit Suite, and the Jilk Endovascular Suite. Each of these rooms closely mimics the clinical setting. Six Patient Rooms with attached observation areas also are included in the floor plan. Patient Rooms can be set as either inpatient or outpatient setting.

Equipment

The Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center in Minnesota utilizes all types of clinical equipment to closely mirror our clinical environment, including anesthesia machines, mechanical ventilators, defibrillators, perfusion simulators, and high-fidelity manikins.

Task Trainer Room

Provides key card access for learners to use the equipment at their own pace, once oriented. Equipment includes:

  • UroMentor
  • EYESI ophthalmology trainer
  • Hysteroscopic Simulator
  • Cystoscopic Simulator

Standardized Patient Program

The Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center in Minnesota has an integrated Standardized Patient Program with approximately 60 actors and actresses that play a vital role in courses. Standardized Patients can be paired with high-fidelity simulators to play the role of family members, or independently to portray patients with any number of problems.
