Jacksonville students participate in all didactic courses via videoconference broadcast from the campus at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Clinical courses and experiences at each campus are tailored to reflect the unique patient population.

Rotations
During your training, you will have rotations in specialized areas of ultrasound, including abdomen, OB-GYN and vascular ultrasound. During these rotations, you will gain experience in Mayo Clinic’s ultrasound and vascular laboratories, including radiology and obstetrics. During all clinical rotations, you will work under the supervision of highly qualified radiologists, obstetricians, vascular surgeons, sonographers and vascular technologists.

Cardiac ultrasound techniques are taught through the Echocardiography Program at Mayo School of Health Sciences.

Grading or Evaluation
Mayo School of Health Sciences uses evaluative tools that include:

  • Written examination
  • Competency Testing
  • Demonstration of skills
  • Self-assessment exercises
  • Faculty reviews

Our system of evaluation provides students and faculty with a comprehensive look at individual performance, allowing students who are experiencing academic difficulty to be directed to appropriate support resources, including tutoring programs and counseling opportunities.
