Positions
A competitive review process is used to select up to twelve sonography students each year. Up to ten students are accepted to the Rochester, Minn., campus and two students are accepted to the Jacksonville, Fla., campus.

How to Apply
Applications and all supporting documentation must be submitted between November 1 and March 1 to be considered for appointments beginning the following August. There is no advantage to applying early. Any updates or changes to the published information, which will affect the applicants for the next class, will be made on this web site before the application window opens.
The application will only be available to view, complete and submit during the open application window, between November 1 and March 1.

Step 1: To apply to the program complete and electronically submit the:

To be considered a complete application, the application must include:

  • Two letters of recommendation on the electronic forms provided, one each from two of the following: work-related, educational, or personal references.
  • A one to two page application essay based on the questions listed on the application form. Please upload your document into the application for electronic submission.
  • Completed prerequisite course list on the electronic form provided.
  • Results from ACT exam. ACT web site: http://www.act.org/

Step 2: You must additionally submit the following documents, postmarked before March 1:

  • Official transcripts from every high school, college and/or university you attended. Although we prefer that you send all your transcripts in one envelope with the materials listed below, transcripts may be sent directly from each educational institution. If you are currently enrolled in fall courses, wait to submit transcripts with courses in progress until after your grades for the current semester/quarter are on the transcript.
  • A non-refundable $25 application fee. If remitted by check, please make payable to the MSHS Sonography Program. You also have the option to pay by credit card when applying electronically. 
  • A copy of the license which fulfills the Patient Care prerequisite.  The license does not need to be current.

Step 3: Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minn., or Jacksonville Fla., at their own expense, for a personal interview with the admissions committee members.

Additional information:

  • Appointment letters are mailed by the end of April. If you receive an appointment letter your reply is expected within two weeks.
  • Your appointment to the program is dependent upon successful completion of the physical examination, background check, and/or drug screen as required by state law.
  • Incomplete applications or applications postmarked or electronically submitted outside of the November 1 to March 1 timeframe, will not be processed.
  • Program information and application materials are updated each year and are, therefore, not valid for subsequent applications.
