Individuals selected to participate in the clinic outpatient pharmacy internship program will have the opportunity to experience the unique practice of each outpatient pharmacy located on the Mayo Clinic-Rochester campus. The program provides a variety of experiences, including:
- Providing patient counseling on medication
- Assignment to a pharmacist preceptor to gain hands-on experience with reviewing doctors’ orders, entering orders and participating in pharmacists’ interventions.
- Providing drug information to health care providers and medical writers
- Participating in the specialty care pharmacy practices (i.e. kidney or liver transplant, hepatitis C)
- Exploring opportunities available in pharmacy management
- Exposure to the role of a pharmacist in outpatient research programs
- Training in the pharmacy compounding department
- Preparing a presentation for staff pharmacists on a topic related to outpatient pharmacy
Didactic Training
As an outpatient pharmacy intern, you will participate in discussions related to topics listed in the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Intern Competency Manual.
