The Hospital Pharmacy Internship Program provides high-quality hospital experiences, including:

  • Training in a unit dose or IV admixture dispensing area at either Saint Marys Hospital or Rochester Methodist Hospital.
  • Assignment to your pharmacist preceptor to gain hands-on experience with reviewing doctors’ orders, entering orders and participating in pharmacists’ interventions.
  • Mini-rotations of one to two days to acquaint you with specialty practices in hospital pharmacy. You may choose these rotations:

    - Cardiac surgery
    - Cardiology
    - Critical care
    - Drug information
    - Hematology/Oncology
    - Hospice
    - Neurology
    - Nutrition support
    - Organ transplantation
    - Patient education
    - Pediatrics
    - Psychiatry

Didactic Training
As a hospital pharmacy intern, you will attend lectures on topics listed in the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Intern Competency Manual.
