Program Description
The Mayo School of Health Sciences (MSHS) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester
offers diverse and challenging clinical experiences to students
enrolled in a Mayo Clinic-affiliated master’s-level nurse
practitioner program.

Your college or university program director and the MSHS Nurse
Practitioner program director will arrange your clinical experiences.
The clinicals are facilitated by Mayo Clinic professional nurse
practitioner staff and provide nurse practitioner students opportunities
to work alongside other professionals in a multidisciplinary health-care
environment.
Students will observe and experience the delivery of patient care
in a comprehensive health-care center that offers:

Facilities
Your clinical residency will take place at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
This campus comprises an extensive outpatient complex, two hospitals,
and research and education facilities. It is among the largest,
most advanced medical centers in the world.
Mayo Clinic's state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and research
facilities enhance student clinical experiences and the ability
for clinical preceptors to provide high-quality clinical education
experiences.
Graduation and Certification
When you successfully complete the master’s degree in nursing criteria and the adult, family, pediatric, geriatric, women's health, or neonatology nurse practitioner course work at your affiliate school, you are eligible to apply for the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners national certification examination as either an adult, family, pediatric, geriatric,women's health, or neonatology nurse practitioner. You will also receive a certificate from Mayo Clinic, Mayo School of Health Sciences indicating your successful completion of the clinical nurse practitioner residency.
Hours
For the majority of the residency, your learning schedule will include
eight-hour days, three to four days per week.
Class Size
Each year, Mayo School of Health Sciences admits up to ten students
in its Nurse Practitioner
Clinical Residency
Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. This
ensures you will receive a comprehensive educational experience
with close one-on-one instruction.
