Off-Site Rotations
Traditional 30-month program students who are in good standing, academically and clinically, will be required to rotate off-campus for an eight-week period. This rotation provides both regional anesthesia experience and clinical experience in a smaller, community-based environment. Currently, students rotate to either Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., Mayo Health System practices in either Albert Lea, Austin, or Fairmont, Minn, or a hospital in Carroll, Iowa.
The eight-week off-campus rotation takes place during the last 12 months of the program. Mayo Clinic funds the authorized additional travel and housing costs.
Grading or Evaluation
Mayo School of Health Sciences uses evaluative tools that include:
- Written examination
- Demonstration of skills
- Class presentations
- Referenced papers
- Self-assessment exercises
- Faculty reviews
Our system of evaluation provides students and faculty with a comprehensive look at individual performance, allowing students who are experiencing academic difficulty to be directed to appropriate support resources, including tutoring programs and counseling opportunities.
