Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. was established more than 100 years ago by William Worral Mayo, M.D., and his physician sons, William and Charles.

Over the years, the clinic established itself as a world-renowned medical and surgical practice. It pioneered the development of the integrated group practice, where physician specialists and other health-care professionals work as a team to meet the needs of patients.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester is a 1,595-physician group practice which, along with Rochester Methodist Hospital and Saint Marys Hospital, form an integrated medical center in Rochester, Minn. offering comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services.

The Mayo Clinic campus in downtown Rochester is comprised of numerous buildings connected through an extensive network of skyways and subways. The new Gonda Building, the Mayo Building and Rochester Methodist Hospital provide a wholly integrated facility combining inpatient and outpatient clinical practice, education and research. The 20-story Guggenheim Building is one of several facilities housing Mayo's extensive basic and translational research activities in Rochester. The Saint Marys Hospital campus, located three blocks west of the downtown campus, houses Mayo's advanced emergency medicine and surgery facilities. In all, Mayo Clinic in Rochester occupies approximately 13 million square feet – about 2.5 times the size of the Mall of America in Minneapolis.
