Program Costs
The current MSHS tuition rates for the 2010-2011 academic cycle are $337 per credit, and the total cost of tuition and books for the 43 credit Clinical Laboratory Science Program is $15,250.  Tuition rates are subject to change on an annual basis for the CLS Program, at the discretion of program and MSHS leadership.  A $250 deposit is required upon acceptance (this is applied to tuition).  Tuition will be billed twice a year.  $7625 will be billed at the beginning of the academic program and $7625 will be billed midway through the program.

Students are responsible for providing their own living accommodations. Students may hold outside employment during the program if it does not conflict with their program responsibilities.

Financial Aid
Mayo School of Health Sciences offers financial incentives for students to participate in many of its health sciences training programs. Scholarships, grants and low-interest loans may be available for those who demonstrate financial need.

The College of Medicine Student Financial Aid Office can provide more details about the financial aid or incentives offered for the Clinical Laboratory Science Program.
Mayo Clinic Florida Applicants Scholarship:

Program Costs & Financial Aid (Mayo Clinic Florida Applicants Scholarship)
The tuition rate for the Clinical Laboratory Science Program is $15,500 (includes books). A full scholarship is provided for candidates accepted into the program, including transportation to and from Rochester at the start and end of the program at that site and housing while at the Mayo Rochester campus.

In return for the scholarship monies, the applicant agrees to commit to employment with Mayo Clinic Florida, Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology for not less than 24 months.

Acceptable academic and clinical standards to receive the scholarship include the following:

  • The student must maintain a 2.50 GPA minimum overall in the academic and clinical course works with no performance or behavioral deficiencies.  The student must not have been placed on academic or clinical probation as defined by the Mayo School of Health Sciences. These standards must be maintained, or the scholarship will be discontinued until the standards are met.

Applicant eligibility criteria for the scholarship include the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited 4 year college or university with 3.0 GPA
  • Completion of one or more of the recommended biological science or chemistry courses

You must purchase a professional liability insurance policy when you begin the program. You are required to provide your own laptop (specifications will be provided). The Rochester Campus housing consists of four-bedroom, two-bathroom, dorm-style apartments, located on the city busline.
