Program Description
The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Program – a collaboration between the Mayo School of Health Sciences (MSHS) and Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) is committed to providing skill-based training and the hands-on experience needed to create a well-rounded, and fully competent CRC.

The CRC Program, Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and Diploma programs, offer an educational experience designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to build a successful career in clinical research. The CRC Program prepares the student to:

  • Participate in a team of physician researchers, allied health staff and assist physician researchers conduct research with people
  • Interact directly with patients and families
  • Collect clinical research data
  • Follow regulations that protect people who participate in research

The Diploma program is designed for individuals who already have at least an associate’s degree, in any course of study.

Facilities
Students can complete the general education and some of the professional education requirements on the RCTC campus. Additionally, about 75 percent of the classes have an online option. Four Clinical Research Coordinator classes and the fieldwork are held on Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minn., campus.

Mayo Clinic is among the largest, most advanced medical centers in the world. The Rochester campus comprises an extensive outpatient complex, Saint Marys Hospital and Rochester Methodist Hospital, and substantial research and education facilities.

Graduation and Certification
When a student completes the CRC Program, he or she receives a certificate of completion from MSHS.  Additionally, the student receives an AAS Degree or a Diploma from RCTC.

Hours
Most RCTC courses are available in the day, the evening and online sessions.  See course schedule for specifics.

Courses at Mayo Clinic are held weekdays after normal business working hours.

Fieldwork is arranged by the program director with a preceptor during regular clinic hours, which are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
