Curriculum
The curriculum is identical for all students, whether enrolled in the certificate program or the bachelor's degree option, and regardless of the campus location. Mayo Clinic Florida students meet at the Florida campus to participate in all didactic courses via ITV with Mayo Clinic Rochester.
The challenging, high-quality curriculum for the program is designed with courses in a specific sequence, progressively building on expertise while advancing through the program. Some coursework is delivered in a blended electronic and classroom format. Academic course work is coordinated with clinical rotations to optimize the learning experience.

Clinical Rotations
During training, clinical rotations are provided in specialized areas of ultrasound including abdomen, OB-GYN, vascular ultrasound and vascular testing.
Students at the Rochester campus will gain experience in Mayo Clinic's Radiology, Obstetrics, and Vascular Ultrasound departments. During the summer semester, each student will participate in two clinical rotations to Mayo Health System affiliates located within a 50 mile radius.
Students at the Jacksonville campus will gain experience in Mayo Clinic's Radiology and Vascular departments. Obstetric clinical rotations occur at non-Mayo facilities located in the Jacksonville vicinity.
Transportation and travel expenses for offsite locations are the responsibility of the student.
During all clinical rotations, supervision is provided by highly qualified radiologists, obstetricians, vascular surgeons, sonographers and vascular technologists.
Grading or Evaluation
Academic and clinical course work will be graded on a four-point scale. Mayo School of Health Sciences uses evaluative tools that include:
- Written examination
- Demonstration of skills
- Self-assessment exercises
- Faculty reviews
Our system of evaluation provides students and faculty with a comprehensive look at individual performance, allowing students who are experiencing academic difficulty to be directed to appropriate support resources.
Curriculum Enhancements
Mayo School of Health Sciences is committed to developing and maintaining the very best education programs. Changes may be made to the curriculum and other aspects of this program as necessary to assure the highest quality training.
