Director's Welcome
The need for well-trained infectious disease pharmacists has never been greater. Increasing rates of antimicrobial resistance, new multi-drug resistant pathogens and few novel drugs on the horizon have further enhanced the need for good antimicrobial stewardship. Infectious disease pharmacists play a critical role in promoting appropriate antimicrobial therapy use and the Mayo Clinic PGY2 Infectious Disease Residency program will train you to fill that role and become an integral member of the healthcare team.
The diversity of infections seen at Mayo Clinic as well as the wide variety of general and specialized infectious disease rotations offered is unsurpassed. Mayo Clinic's Pharmacy Residency in Infectious Diseases Residency is also integrated with the Infectious Disease Fellowship Program for physicians, which further expands the array of learning and teaching opportunities. The HIV Clinic longitudinal rotation and experience with our computer-assisted antimicrobial stewardship tools add to the training you will receive at Mayo Clinic.
Our preceptors are passionate and very dedicated to teaching you the skills needed to become an exemplary infectious disease practitioner. Our residency program also excels in the ability to tailor the program to your needs.
If a residency program that is very well-rounded and progressive appeals to you, please explore our site further and consider applying for the program. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
