Director's Welcome
The practice of clinical pharmacy is rapidly evolving, with new therapies being discovered and implemented at a faster pace than ever before. Mayo Clinic is at the forefront of research, education and clinical practice enabling you to participate in the care of patients using the most current evidence-based standard of care. You would be joining a devoted team that is passionate about what we do, from compassionate direct patient care to focused training of our residents and students. The opportunity to make a meaningfully contribution to patient care at Mayo Clinic is around every corner.
Mayo Clinic's PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program has a highly qualified, dedicated group of preceptors to assist you in becoming a skilled clinical pharmacist. Over the course of the PGY1 year, your knowledge base and pharmacotherapeutic skills will mature and be refined through participation in multidisciplinary patient care rounds, daily review of patients, topic discussions with your preceptors, and small and large-group presentations to a variety of healthcare practitioners. We are proudly able to tailor the residency year to your professional needs and desires. Whether you strive to enhance writing, communication, management, or teaching abilities, we will help to improve upon your weaknesses, as well as further develop your strengths.
We are very fortunate to have some of the best residents in the country joining our team of clinical pharmacists. Rest assured that the commitment and sacrifice devoted to this residency program will serve you well in future endeavors.
Regards,
Garrett E. Schramm, Pharm.D., BCPS.
