The ambulatory facilities provide clinical services ranging from primary to specialty care and advanced procedures. Mayo Clinic hospital provides comprehensive inpatient services, including surgical and medical intensive care units, specialized solid-organ transplant units, and advanced cardiac and neurosurgery facilities.

The electronic medical record provides an opportunity to:

  • Review patient demographic, laboratory and microbiology data; medications; and drug levels during medication profile review, while on team rounds and during dispensing activities.
  • Identify patients whose medication therapy requires a pharmacist's daily review.
  • Identify and review treatments that are inconsistent with established medication rule-based algorithms.
  • Document pharmacist-performed clinical activities, interventions and monitoring notes.

Hours

For the majority of the APPE experience, your learning schedule will include eight-hour days, five days per week.
