The Molecular Genetics Internship prepares individuals for professional practice in molecular genetics. During the internship, learning experiences allow students to perform:
- DNA purification and extraction methods
- Southern blot analysis
- Polymerase chain reactions (PCR)
- Other specialized techniques for diagnosing inherited (genetic) and acquired disorders
Students complete hands-on rotations to learn about specific assays and techniques.
