Curriculum
The Mayo School of Health Sciences Molecular Genetics Technology Program prepares individuals for professional practice in molecular genetics. During the program, learning experiences are provided to allow the intern to perform:
- DNA purification and extraction methods
- Southern blot analysis
- polymerase chain reactions (PCR)
- other specialized techniques for diagnosing inherited (genetic) and acquired disorders
Students will complete hands-on rotations to learn about specific assays and techniques.
