Massage Therapy Clinical Experience (Minnesota)

Program description

Through the Massage Therapy Clinical Experience, massage students provide massage to staff in a health care environment. There are opportunities to provide chair massage to staff in a variety of clinical settings and time to observe hospital-based massage therapies.

Program goals

The Massage Therapy Clinical Experience provides opportunities for students to:

  • Complete their required clinical rotation for school
  • Provide massage to staff in a variety of clinical settings
  • Observe hospital-based massage therapy staff practice

Accreditation

College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a commission member of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

To participate in the Massage Therapy Clinical Experience, you must be enrolled at one of these affiliated academic institutions.

Facilities

The Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, Minn., includes an extensive outpatient complex, Saint Marys Hospital, Rochester Methodist Hospital, and substantial research and education facilities.

Graduation and certification

Upon successful completion of the Massage Therapy Clinical Experience, you will receive a certificate of completion from Mayo School of Health Sciences. You will also be eligible to take the Hospital-Based Massage Therapy Course, if interested.

Hours

For the most part, your learning schedule will be determined when meeting with program directors. It may involve being at Mayo Clinic to provide massage therapy up to three days a week for two to four hours at a time.

Class size

Each year, Mayo School of Health Sciences admits up to six students to the Massage Therapy Clinical Experience. This ensures you will receive close one-on-one instruction and a comprehensive educational experience.
