Histology Technician Clinical Rotation (Florida)

Program description

Students enrolled in the Histologic Technology program at Florida State College may complete their clinical rotations at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida. The Associate of Science in Histologic Technology degree at Florida State College is a two-year program.


The Florida State College Histologic Technology program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

To participate in the Histology Technician Clinical Rotation at Mayo School of Health Sciences, you must be enrolled in the Histologic Technology program at Florida State College.


Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, is a comprehensive medical facility providing advanced programs in education and research that support the highest quality patient care. Campus activity is conducted in the Mayo Clinic Hospital and the interconnected Davis, Mayo and Cannaday buildings.

The ambulatory facilities provide clinical services ranging from primary to specialty care and advanced procedures. Mayo Clinic Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient services, including surgical and medical intensive care units, specialized solid-organ transplant units, and advanced cardiac and neurosurgery facilities.

Graduation and certification

Upon successful completion of the Histologic Technology program, you earn an associate degree from Florida State College. Graduates are eligible to take the national Histotechnician (HT) certification examination from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC).


For the majority of your clinical rotation, your learning schedule is Monday through Friday. Hours vary from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Class size

Each year, Mayo School of Health Sciences admits up to two students to its Histology Technician Clinical Rotation at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville. This ensures you receive close one-on-one instruction and a comprehensive educational experience.
