Genetic Counseling Internship (Florida)
Mayo School of Health Sciences offers an eight- to 10-week Genetic Counseling Internship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida. The internship provides experience working with a genetic counselor that enables students to complete a rotation requirement of their respective genetic counseling graduate school training program.
Students work one-on-one with a genetic counselor and are able to initially observe multiple types of genetic counseling cases and later actively participate in the genetic counseling session. In addition, students enrolled in the internship are able to work with a genetic counselor to obtain the comprehensive clinical knowledge and skills needed to be a genetic counselor.
For students currently enrolled in an accredited genetic counseling training program, Mayo Clinic works with your program to become an approved clinical rotation site.
Students who complete the Genetic Counseling Internship will obtain further clinical training for the completion of their Master of Science degree in genetic counseling. In addition, students may obtain logbook cases, which are required to graduate from each accredited genetic counseling master's program.
