Three individuals are accepted on a competitive basis each year to the Clinical Pastoral Education Residency. Classes begin in early September and continue through May of the following year.
How to apply
There is no annual fixed application deadline. Applicants must already hold a master's degree or be enrolled in a master's degree program in theology or divinity. Applicants whose denominations license or ordain ministers without a master's degree may be given exception.
Application. Submit your completed Application for Clinical Pastoral Education, along with:
- Your eight- to 10-page (double-spaced) autobiographical statement
- Copies of all self and supervisor evaluations from any previously completed clinical pastoral education program(s)
Please send the required materials in one envelope to:
Phone or Skype interview. If you are considered for an appointment, a phone or Skype interview is arranged. An interview is not arranged until your application is complete.
In-person interview. After the phone or Skype interview and references are checked, some applicants are invited to visit Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, for a personal interview with the program director. Travel expenses are at the applicant's own expense.
Acceptance. Appointment letters are mailed approximately one week after the interview. If you accept a position, you need to indicate your acceptance with a letter. Your reply is expected within two weeks of receiving an appointment letter.
Mayo Clinic application for employment. Complete the Mayo Clinic application for employment. Health benefit information will arrive by mail.
