Curriculum
Didactic
You will choose three areas of personal interest on which to focus your athletic training studies during the internship. You will be expected to demonstrate competency in your chosen area at the end of the internship. At the end of your internship, you will be expected to present a topic of your choice to sports medicine faculty, and complete a coordinating poster project. It doesn't have to be related to the didactic topics you choose.
You'll have the opportunity to observe surgery, attend physician clinics, diagnostic ultrasounds, performance enhancement programs, physical therapy, cardiac rehab, and our state of the art healthy living center. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to attend an arthroscopy seminar and case presentations. Finally, you'll have the option to assist in providing athletic training coverage to community sports events under the supervision of a staff ATC.
Along with the necessary professional skills, the Athletic Training Internship emphasizes the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Program faculty members believe that this is the strongest preparation for a career as a competent practitioner in today's evolving health-care environment.
