The city of Rochester, Minnesota, offers a fine array of music, art, dining, cultural and theater options. A growing arts community supports active civic music and theater programs that provide opportunities for residents, students, artists and tourists.

On a summer evening in Rochester, you may join up to 20,000 people in downtown Rochester for live bands, vendors, food booths and crafts.

Creativity, history, enrichment and entertainment encompass the cultural scene of this city. A few highlights include the newly expanded and renovated (2017) Mayo Civic Center, the history at Mayowood Mansion and the Olmsted Historical Society, the fine arts displays at the Rochester Art Center, the live theater and dance at the Rochester Civic Theatre, the enrichment of the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial, and the fun of the home baseball team, the Rochester Honkers.

Rochester is the region's shopping hub, with numerous shopping centers, big-name retail stores, boutiques, specialty shops and a farmers market.

Minneapolis and St. Paul, also known as the Twin Cities, are a quick 70-minute drive and provide access to metropolitan cultural events, dining and shopping. Among the many attractions are the nationally recognized Guthrie Theater, Minnesota Orchestra, Walker Art Center and Mall of America. Chicago is 350 miles from Rochester, or a 45-minute flight.
