In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are well-regarded in their field. You will have direct access to these individuals throughout your training program.
Throughout the Transitional Year Residency, you will train with Mayo Clinic specialists in general surgery, internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine and pediatrics. Depending on the program electives you choose, you will have the opportunity to train with many other specialists.
Advisors & Mentors
Before you begin the program, you will meet with the program director for an individual advising session. This meeting is designed to help you plan your curriculum for the year. You also will have several other advisory meetings during the program. Individual counseling by the faculty is available on an ongoing basis.
Visiting Professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during noon and/or morning lectures and participate in hospital rounds. You will be encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
