Program Description
The Department of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville
offers a 12-month accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
The Sports Medicine Fellowship involves the care of patients with
sports, fitness or recreational activity-related injuries that adversely
affect their ability to participate in physical activity.
The program also includes medical coverage for various athletic
events and provision of sports physicals for school age and professional
athletes. As a trainee in this program, you will have a continuity
sports medicine clinic in which you will discuss patients with one
of the faculty physicians who has a Certificate of Added Qualification
(CAQ) in Sports Medicine.
Accreditation
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
(ACGME) accredits this program.
Program History
The physicians at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville developed
the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program in 2002 and
accepted the first fellows the same year. The program has graduated
one fellow each year since its existence. It is anticipated that
one trainee will complete this fellowship annually.
