The Sleep Disorders Unit at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is an outpatient medical facility for diagnosing and treating sleep-related disorders. It is fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

The center offers nighttime sleep studies (polysomnograms), multiple sleep latency tests, wrist actigraphy and overnight oximetry.

Patients are treated for a number of disorders, including:

  • Excessive somnolence
  • Insomnia
  • Parasomnias
  • Periodic leg movements
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • Sleep-related breathing disorders

Faculty
Four board-certified sleep specialists will provide training during your fellowship. Faculty members in related specialties participate in teaching and supervise you during elective rotations.

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their field. You will have direct access to the Sleep Medicine faculty at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville throughout your training.

Advisors and Mentors
You will be assigned a faculty advisor who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Your advisor also will serve as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Jacksonville and the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting Professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during noon and/or morning lectures and participate in hospital rounds. You will be encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
