The one-year training program consists of core clinical rotations and elective opportunities.
Clinical Training
Your clinical experiences will include:
- Sleep consultations under the direct supervision of a board-certified sleep specialist
- Training in technical aspects of polysomnography and other related recordings
- Interpretation of polysomnogram, multiple sleep latency test (MSLT), actigraphy and sleep log
- Continuity specialty clinic
- Dedicated time for research opportunities
Electives
A variety of elective opportunities allow you to individualize this training program so it best meets your career goals. Elective experiences in related specialties include:
- Otorhinolaryngology
- Psychiatry
- Pulmonary medicine
- Psychology
- Neurology/EEG.
Call Frequency
There are no call responsibilities for the Sleep Medicine Fellowship in Jacksonville.
Teaching Opportunities
Opportunities are available for teaching rotating residents and medical students.
Evaluation
To ensure that you acquire adequate knowledge and develop your technical skills, your performance will be monitored carefully during the course of your program training. You will be evaluated formally by your supervising faculty member after each clinical rotation and will meet with the program director to review these evaluations. In addition, you will regularly evaluate the faculty to ensure that your educational needs are being met.
