Transitional Year Residency (Arizona)

Program description

The Transitional Year Residency at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is designed to introduce you to a wide range of medical and surgical specialties through elective rotations and self-planned learning activities.

The program was established in 1992 and serves as the initial year of training for residents who will subsequently enter the categorical programs in anesthesiology, dermatology, neurology or radiation oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. The application process for the program is initiated through one of these respective categorical programs.

The goal for the year is to build a broad foundation of clinical skills as a base for your future categorical training at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. After completing the Transitional Year Residency, our graduates have gone on to excel in categorical anesthesiology, dermatology, neurology and radiation oncology residency programs at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
