Transitional Year Residency (Arizona)

Program Description

The Transitional Year Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is designed to introduce you to a wide range of medical and surgical specialties through elective rotations and self-planned learning activities.

The goal is that during this year's experiences, you will build a broad foundation of clinical skills as a base for your future Dermatology or Neurology training.

The program offers a solid foundation in the fundamental skills of clinical medicine so you will emerge prepared to enter the categorical residency program of your choice.

Program & Graduate Outcomes
After completing the Transitional Year Residency Program, our graduates have gone on to excel in categorical Dermatology and Neurology residency programs at Mayo Clinic Arizona.

Program History
The Transitional Year Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona was established in 1992. Approximately 77 residents have completed training in this program. Going forward, approximately five trainees designated to the Dermatolgy and Neurology residency programs ay Mayo Clinic in Arizona will enter this program each year.
