Program Description

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville offers two types of preliminary (one-year) general surgery programs: non-designated and designated. Both programs offer a wide variety of surgical experiences.

Residents selected for the Urology Residency program at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville do their preliminary year in Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. If you are interested in the Urology program, please inquire with the Urology residency program coordinator.


The Preliminary Surgery Department Residency Program at Mayo Clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Program History

The Preliminary Surgery Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Florida fall under the General Surgery Residency Program and began in 1997. It is anticipated that 2 residents (one designated and one non-designated) will complete training in this program annually.
