Qualified applicants must have completed a general surgery residency program at an accredited institution.

This residency is open to U.S. and Canadian citizens, permanent U.S. immigrants and international applicants. International medical graduates who completed their general surgery residency outside the United States or Canada are eligible to apply for our one year non-accredited fellowship. This is an off-cycle fellowship beginning at the end of December.

Appointment contract information

Appointments are confirmed in a formal written letter of appointment from Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education. This letter, a copy of which you will be asked to sign and return, constitutes your formal residency appointment to Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.
