During the Cross-Sectional Imaging Fellowship, you receive advanced training in all aspects of body imaging and interventions in both outpatient and hospital radiology settings. The core curriculum focuses on body magnetic resonance imaging, CT- and ultrasound-guided procedures, diagnostic CT, and ultrasound.
The broad range of electives accommodates special interests and talents. Elective choices include but are not limited to:
- Musculoskeletal MRI
- Vascular MRI/CT
- Cardiac MRI/CT
- Breast imaging
Clinical conferences and one-on-one instruction are integral parts of the Cross-Sectional Imaging Fellowship. You hone your presentation skills through monthly case-based conferences for the radiology residents. Weekly journal club and tumor board meetings also contribute to your training.
Excellent research opportunities are available at Mayo Clinic. You are expected to participate in one or more clinical research projects with the consulting staff during your fellowship and are encouraged to present at national meetings. Protected research time is available.
To ensure you gain proficiency and develop the corresponding technical skills, your performance is monitored throughout this fellowship. You are formally evaluated by your supervising faculty member after completing each clinical rotation and then meet with the program director to review these evaluations.
In addition, you regularly evaluate the faculty to ensure your educational goals are being met.
