Application Process

Positions

The fellowship program has nine slots, each two years in duration. Therefore, either three or four positions are available each year on a competitive basis in the Medical Psychology Fellowship Program (at least one or two depending on recruitment year) in each specialty area: Clinical Child Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology. Please contact the program for information about how many positions are available in your chosen specialty program.

How to apply

The Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education (MSGME) does not process printed applications to this program. To apply, you need to use the third-party application service, Apply Yourself.

In addition to the standard application materials required by MSGME, this program requires the following additional supporting materials to be submitted with your online application:

  • A letter of recommendation from your graduate school training director. Ask your training director to document that you are in good standing and will complete the training program before you would start our fellowship. You may ask others, more familiar with your skills and qualifications, also to send letters of recommendation. Four letters are sufficient.

Applications for the 2012-2013 academic year should be completed by December 21 for the Clinical Neuropsychology Program; January 4 for the Clinical Health Psychology Program; or February 1 for the Clinical Child Psychology Program.

While the academic year begins July 1, the start date is flexible depending on the individual circumstances for each postdoctoral fellow. If you are considered for a position, you will be asked to visit Mayo Clinic in Rochester for an interview with the program director, the associate director for your specialty, selected faculty, and current postdocs in the program.

Interviews are conducted in January and February. The Clinical Child and Clinical Health Psychology Programs subscribe to the APPIC Postdoctoral Uniform Notification Date with the Option for Reciprocal Offer. The Clinical Neuropsychology Program participates in the APPCN Match.
