Medical Psychology Fellowship (Minnesota)

Program description

The Medical Psychology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is a multiple specialties program with three American Psychological Association (APA)- accredited postdoctoral programs, each of two years duration. The postdoctoral programs of the fellowship are designed for recent graduates of an APA Accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program and an APA-Accredited Predoctoral Psychology Internship who desire specialty training in one of the three specialty practice programs offered in this fellowship:

  • Clinical Child Psychology
  • Clinical Health Psychology
  • Clinical Neuropsychology

These three accredited fellowships are designed to complement your background and to provide more focused and in-depth training in your chosen substantive specialty practice area. The specialty programs comprising the Fellowship are each two-years in duration with one or two postdocs recruited each year for each of the specialties.

The fellowship prepares doctoral-level psychologists for a career in an academic medical center by offering them clinical training, integrated with research and teaching opportunities in the scientist-practitioner tradition of training in psychology.

The clinical service areas and research training opportunities available in the postdoctoral programs ensure you are provided an integrated experience that is relevant to your needs and career goals. The integration of psychology into a large academic medical center that provides the best care to every patient through integrated clinical practice, education and research is the hallmark of this program.

Program outcomes

Over the past five years the post-fellowship employment rate has been 95 percent. Graduates are employed in a range of clinical and academic settings across the country.
