Department and Faculty
The Department of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, provides services for more than 110,000 patient visits a year. Both inpatient and outpatient facilities are state of the art and you are exposed to leading-edge procedures and equipment.

The Department of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic has 29 staff members, including four Ph.D. researchers. In addition, there are 12 ophthalmology residents and several fellows in either clinical or research training.
Advisers and mentors
First-year ophthalmology residents are assigned a mentor from the department consulting staff who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. This mentor serves as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Rochester and the Mayo Clinic system.
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures and participate in hospital rounds and informal discussions with residents. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
