Interventional and Advanced Diagnostic Pulmonology Fellowship (Minnesota)

Program description

The Interventional and Advanced Diagnostic Pulmonology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota offers one year of advanced training in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and pleural disease management, including:

  • Rigid interventional bronchoscopy
  • Pleuroscopy and thoracic ultrasound
  • Advanced diagnostic flexible bronchoscopy, including the use of endobronchial navigation and ultrasound

This fellowship is designed for physicians planning a career in pulmonology as an investigative and consultative interventional pulmonologist.

The formation of the Interventional and Advanced Diagnostic Pulmonology Fellowship stems from the recognition that pulmonary interventional procedures are becoming more effective and complex and that interventional pulmonology is developing into a discrete career path within pulmonary medicine requiring specialized training.

Program history

This fellowship begins in 2013. It is anticipated that one fellow will complete the program annually.
