Department and Faculty
Mayo Clinic's clinical and research faculty members are committed to teaching and to the growth of medical knowledge. Members of the Mayo Clinic Florida faculty publish and lecture extensively, and are well regarded in their field.
One of the greatest advantages to training at Mayo is the approachability, accessibility and collegiality of the faculty.
There are 110 faculty members in the Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Between 2007-2010, this faculty produced 718 peer-reviewed articles, 307 abstracts/letters, 301 national and regional presentations, 68 editorials in peer-reviewed journals, 46 book chapters and nine books.
There are 38 internal medicine fellows representing 12 fellowships. Mayo Medical School students rotate to Mayo Clinic in Florida for third and fourth year clinical clerkships.
Basic science, translational, and clinical research take place on the Jacksonville campus, with scientists and physician investigators in the Mayo Graduate School, Mayo Graduate School of Medical Education, and the three-campus Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Our residency offers a unique PGY-1 academic mentoring program that creates opportunities and connections for future career success. Projects can include both traditional academic scholarship and quality/safety innovations - tailored to individual resident goals.
