Department and Faculty

Mayo Clinic's clinical and research faculty members are committed to both teaching and the growth of medical knowledge. Members of the faculty at Mayo Clinic in Florida publish and lecture extensively and are well regarded in their fields.

One of the greatest advantages to training at Mayo is the approachability, accessibility and collegiality of the faculty.

There are 110 faculty members in the Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Between 2007 and 2010, these faculty members produced 718 peer-reviewed articles, 307 abstracts and letters, 301 national and regional presentations, 68 editorials in peer-reviewed journals, 46 book chapters, and nine books.

There are 55 internal medicine fellows representing 12 fellowships. Mayo Medical School students rotate to Mayo Clinic in Florida for third- and fourth-year clinical clerkships.

Leading-edge medical research also takes place on the Florida campus, with scientists and physician-investigators conducting a range of basic, translational and clinical studies.

Our residency offers a unique PGY-1 academic mentoring program that creates opportunities and connections for future career success. Projects can include both traditional academic scholarship as well as quality and safety innovations, all tailored to individual resident goals.
