Internal Medicine Residency (Arizona)

Residency Overview

Our Internal Medicine Residency Program provides superb fundamental training for a career in internal medicine or in any of its many subspecialties. We take pride in our well-trained internists who excel in their careers in general or subspecialty medicine in both private practice and academic settings.

The curriculum provides a strong core with outstanding opportunities for personal adaptation through ample research and elective time, coupled with the strong mentors and resources of Mayo Clinic.

We have attained a full five-year accreditation cycle with commendation for 2007-2013. It is expected that our tradition of well-trained, procedurally competent graduates will continue to pass the American Board of Internal Medicine certification examination 100 percent of the time

Our program's affiliations with other Mayo sites in Minnesota and Florida, and Maricopa County Medical Center, Arizona State University and Phoenix Indian Medical Center enhance the available opportunities. The Phoenix and Scottsdale areas provide ideal weather in a growing and vibrant location.

However, we are most proud of our residents -- past, present and future. We invite you to review this Web site and contact us for any additional information.

Program History

Our first six residents began in 1995 and graduated in 1998. We have had 103 graduates of which 69 went on to subspecialty training. We are currently accepting 11 residents each year.
