Candidates must have completed three years of post-M.D. training in internal medicine and at least two years of previous subspecialty training in gastroenterology. Superior achievement as evidenced by a strong academic record and appropriate recommendations is essential. Ideally, the applicant will be board eligible in gastroenterology before enrolling in the fellowship.
Candidates must have demonstrated a specific interest in esophageal disease and have been involved in esophageal research. They must show commitment to initiating an academic career in esophagology. International medical graduates applying must meet established Mayo criteria for international fellows.
