Application Process

Positions

Four positions are available in the Endocrinology Fellowship each year on a competitive basis and include positions in both the Clinical Scholar Track and Research Career Track. Choice of track is determined during the training program rather than when applying or matching to the program.

How to apply

You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for fellowship applicants.

The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted by Aug. 1 of the year preceding the appointment date. The academic year begins July 1.

  1. To apply to the program, visit the ERAS for fellowship applicants website. All applications to Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials. This fellowship requires that one of your three letters of recommendation be from your internal medicine program director.
  2. Appointments are made through the Medical Specialties Matching Program, which is sponsored by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Specialties Matching Service. Candidates must register through the Specialties Matching Service after applying through ERAS.
  3. If you are considered for an appointment, you will be invited to visit Mayo Clinic for interviews by four faculty members on select dates during September. Upon arrival, candidates are hosted by the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism, & Nutrition.

The interview day emphasizes meeting with current fellows by shadowing a fellow and faculty member on a typical rotation in the clinic or hospital, attending a conference, and having lunch with current fellows. Candidates then visit the Endocrine Research Unit, where they are encouraged to request meetings with selected faculty or potential research mentors.
