Department and Faculty

More than 160 physicians make up the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Cardiologists provide the best possible care to patients with disorders of the heart, arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels in a highly integrated and cooperative group practice.

Members of the division care for approximately 55,000 patients annually. Supported by many laboratories, subspecialty clinics, preventive health programs, basic and clinical research programs, and continuing education programs, cardiologists offer patients the latest in new diagnostic techniques, drugs and interventions.


In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their field. You have direct access to the cardiology faculty at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota throughout your training.

Advisers and mentors

You are assigned a faculty adviser, who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Your adviser also serves as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Rochester and the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting professors

Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during noon and morning lectures and participate in hospital rounds. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
