Department and Faculty
This fellowship is designed as a collaboration between the Departments of Transplantation, Medicine and Surgery.
Department of Transplantation: A unique department within the Mayo system which encompasses a total of 23 consultants in renal, GI, cardiology, pulmonology, critical care and surgery, whose primary appointment is in Transplantation and an additional 4 consultants with secondary appointments in the Department.
Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiology: A total of 14 consultants covering all aspects of cardiovascular medicine including heart failure, electrophysiology, echocardiography, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine and nuclear cardiology.
Department of Surgery/Division of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery: A total of 3 consultants participating in all aspects of general cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
The fellow in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology will have direct exposure to most if not all of the above consultants throughout the fellowship year.
