Cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship (Florida)
| Program Description
The Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology Fellowship is designed to provide specialized training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation. The training program will encompass all aspects of the specialty and will meet UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) guidelines.
The ACGME is in its planning stages to offer accreditation for Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology fellowships to potentially start July 2012. Once training guidelines are established by ACGME, we will apply for accreditation.
While the program is not accredited for the 2011 year, individuals completing this training would be eligible to sit for the Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology Boards and would be able to serves as the Transplant Cardiologist in UNOS cardiac transplant programs.
Program History
The Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology Fellowship program is new and will begin July 2011. It is anticipated that one fellow will complete training in this program annually.
