To begin the Anesthesiology Residency at Mayo Clinic in Florida, one year of basic clinical training at Mayo Clinic is required.
All applicants apply through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). Senior medical students can match for a residency position at Mayo Clinic through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Matching to the specialty program includes one-year Preliminary Internal Medicine Residency (PGY-1), which is available only for trainees who complete all of their residency training at Mayo Clinic in Florida.
No appointments are made outside the NRMP. The goal of the one-year Preliminary Internal Medicine (PGY-1) residency is to provide a solid foundation for further training in anesthesiology, dermatology, neurology, radiation oncology, and radiology advanced programs. The program is accredited by the ACGME and residents are included within the ACGME complement of the first year of the Internal Medicine Residency.
