Program Description
The one-year MRI/Cross-Sectional Imaging Fellowship Program at Mayo
Clinic in Scottsdale has a broad, in-depth curriculum that covers
all fundamentals of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cross-sectional
imaging. The program is designed to provide you with clinical and
academic subspecialty training while you work closely with imaging
and interventional radiology experts. The program offers:
- Extensive exposure and hands-on experience
with a large group of patients whose diagnosis and treatment requires
cross-sectional imaging and interventional techniques.
- Clinical instruction by multiple fellowship-trained
radiologists, many of whom have extensive academic experience
and who are recognized experts in their fields.
- Exposure to state-of-the-art magnetic resonance,
computed tomography, ultrasound and PACS (Picture Archive Communications
System) equipment.
- Experience in a modern hospital facility
that uses a filmless imaging department and an electronic medical
records systems.
- Close cooperative interaction with outstanding
medical and surgical colleagues.
- Outstanding clinical research opportunities.
Program History
Radiologists at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale established the
MRI/Cross-Sectional Imaging Fellowship in 2000 and increased the
program's size in 2004. Since inception, six physicians have completed
training. It is anticipated that two fellows will complete training
in this program annually. This program usually accepts two or three candidates annually.
